Jaguar XF named ‘Car of The Year’
The much-vaunted Jaguar XF has collected yet another major industry honour, this time being voted Auto Express ‘Car of The Year’.
The multi-award winning sports saloon - which ranges in price from £35,000 to £50,000 - claimed its crown following victory in the 'Best Executive Car' category ahead of the BMW 5-Series, the Mercedes CLS and E-Class, the Audi A6 and the Lexus GS.
It represents its fourth top title win since being launched in March 2008, already making it one of the biggest success stories in the Castle Bromwich-based company’s illustrious history.
Dan Strong, Editor of Auto Express magazine, said: "Jaguar’s XF is a machine that has proved the doubters wrong. It's a car that impresses on every level, from design to drivability, practicality to price.”
The man behind the XF, Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum said: “Jaguar is very, very proud to receive this wonderful award. It is the proof that Jaguar is back And the XF is just the beginning of our new story for the future. Just wait until you see the new XJ and beyond.”
In other categories, Fiat was celebrating yet another success in the ‘Best City Car’ section this time for its stylish Fiat 500.
The supermini, which was launched earlier this year, brings to an end an incredible run for the Fiat Panda, which took the magazine’s City Car title for four consecutive years.
As expected, iconic Mazda MX-5 roadster retained its ‘Best Convertible’ title for the third successive year, whilst the Nissan Note also notched up a hat-trick in the ‘Best Supermini MPV’ category.
Other winners included the revamped Ford Mondeo (Best Family Car) and the Audi TT (Best Coupe), and the new Mini John Cooper Works (Best Hot Hatch).
